Inspiration or Imitation?

One of the most common interview questions asked to writers and artists of all kinds is: "Who is your inspiration?" Although some say it's overdone, I think it's a great question. It's fun to get a glimpse of how the writer's mind works, and potentially be able to see trace elements of another person within their work. But for writers just starting out, sometimes the line between inspiration and imitation gets a bit blurred.
